Walk tall in Gandys Flip Flops...

This story left me speechless (it doesn't happen often!).

Having lost their parents in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, Rob and Paul Forkan (at just 13 and 11 years old) defied the odds and made their way home from Sri Lanka to London. Orphaned, they went on to finish their education and eventually hatched the idea of starting a company together. Something that would help other orphans around the world.

And so, Gandys flip flops were born. Funky, bright and durable, 10% of all sales go to their Orphans for Orphans mission and the final product has enjoyed massive success, loved by globe-trekkers and celebrities alike.

Why the name "Gandys"? Well, Rob once woke up at a festival with "a mouth like Gandhi's flip flop". The name stuck. A solidly good cause, an excellent product and a ruddy good sense of humour...these guys are just amazing. Only goes to show how good can come from even the most tragic of circumstances.

They have kindly given us a couple of pairs of Gandys flip flops to give away and we're pleased as punch to oblige. To be in with a chance of winning a pair, have a crack at this question...

What's the weirdest place you've ever set foot in?

Jot the idea down and email us at [email protected], scribble on our Facebook page or tweet us using #loaflovesgandys by Monday 12th May and we'll pick our favourite and announce two winners here on the blog the day after.

Best foot forward…
