Merchandising Manager

We are on the look out for a super star addition to Manage our Merchandising Team. To oversee the planning and trading process on both MTO and Stocked departments and to ensure in season activity delivers planned sales, margin and stock targets. To deliver the key goals of the product strategy. To review the current merchandising processes and systems, proposing changes to drive efficiency and profit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures a commercial range is built across all categories to hit key KPIs
  • Responsible for achieving intake margin KPI
  • Ensure the Merch strategy is set to deliver company strategy
  • Reviews financial sales and buy plans for all categories
  • Reviews impact on warehouse of future launches, highlighting any issues and feeding back to Ops Team
  • Collates top line product strategy from Merch Lessons Learnt and Retail/Marketing feedback
  • Liaise regularly with Marketing and Web Team to develop product strategy and trading actions to increase sales
  • Regularly reviews pricing v competition, ensuring margin is protected whilst remaining competitive in the market
  • Review Shack shuffle product and quantities ordered
  • Works with Marketing to understand demand and seek product opportunities
  • Escalate and drive opportunities with internal teams e.g. Web, Marketing
  • Manages Merch critical path alongside Sourcing and ensures all key deadlines are met
  • Challenges Monday Trade pack and analysis and reviews actions
  • Shares top line Merch analysis weekly and monthly with Board and department heads
  • Chairs monthly cross department Trade Meeting
  • Identify risks/opportunities and presents action plans to line manager considering key KPIs
  • Propose trading actions to sign off with Director/Ops Board e.g. cancellations, promotions etc.
  • Trade the web and propose actions e.g. sort orders/colour to shoot changes and cross sells
  • Oversee the re-forecasting of line cards and relevant actions
  • Oversee the in-house fabric stocks for made to order items
  • Manage escalations from the Merch Team with suppliers
  • Propose of promotions and sale clearance markdowns
  • Analyse supplier performance and carry out regular reviews
  • Manages capacity across supply base and ensures product briefs are directed to most relevant supplier
  • Attend the weekly Operations meeting on behalf of Merch and follow up any resulting actions
  • Work cross functionally to ensure processes are aligned and efficient. Challenge the status quo and offer solutions to improve

Understands the key factors that are driving demand

  • Reviews top line sales and forecast
  • Oversees the OTB and buys
  • Highlight opportunities and risks to trade
  • Regular reviews of the WSSI to optimise stock and sales
  • Plans and monitors key KPIs
  • Oversees the management the Made to Order forecast volumes and fabric forecasts
  • Oversees intake phasing
  • Inputs into the brochure pagination plan with Marketing

Critical Path Management:

  • Drive key planning dates to include seasonal peak management and product ex-factory dates to achieve key KPIs
  • Attend critical path meetings/Product de-brief and feedback relevant actions
  • Work alongside internal teams to ensure operational delivery of launches

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to immediate team
  • Builds relationships with other key teams, departments and suppliers
  • Set clear strategies and objectives for the teams to follow and achieve
  • Proposes and implementing new ways of working, procedures and or systems
