Project Manager / Business Analyst (Fixed Term Contract)

We have a unique opportunity for an aspiring project manager to join our team in a hybrid role on a fixed term basis to June 2025. This role will have 60% of its responsibilities focused on project management, with the remaining 40% focused on business analyst activities.

We recognise that technology is one of the fundamental building blocks to successfully delivering our strategy and vision. We've committed to a massive digital transformation programme to modernise our technology and data stack.

Combining these two related disciplines allows for a more integrated approach to project delivery and exposure to opportunities for the successful candidate. We aim to leverage these synergies to expand the breadth of what we can deliver over the next 18 months.

Meet the team

You'll be part of our wider Technology department. Across this function, we have integrated objectives and champion a collective approach to achieving our goals. We value transparency so you'll be able to see the full structure, an overview of the objectives and the details of everyone's objectives.

You'll work closely with the following roles:

  • Data Architect
  • Data Protection Officer
  • Data Analysts
  • Business Analyst
  • IT, Infrastructure & Security Engineers

We work with multiple external partners during project delivery.

The tools you'll use

In terms of software, we currently use:

  • Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence) for project management and documentation
  • Lucid for diagramming
  • Power BI for reporting

The job

Project Management (60%)

  • Assist in creating and maintaining project plans and supporting documentation.
  • Managing project scheduling, tracking and delivery of actions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define project scopes, objectives and deliverables.
  • Monitoring project progress reports as well as maintaining RAID logs and decision logs.
  • Coordinating with department heads and project stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and priorities.
  • Manage project resourcing and budgets.
  • Support the wider the business to implement project management methodologies in an advisory capacity.

Business Analysis (40%)

  • Follow internal guidelines on creating business process documentation, working with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist in conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, and meetings to gather requirements and feedback.
  • Think from a "first principles" perspective - get to the root cause of a situation and build back up with the information and resources at your disposal.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA teams to ensure that solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and facilitate feedback sessions with stakeholders.

We're looking for .....

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and business analysis techniques.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to gather, analyse, and interpret data to support decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Experience as a project manager or managing projects within a retail business.
  • Experience of working with Atlassian project management tools and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Power BI reporting.
  • Experience and/or understanding of process mapping software such as Lucid or Visio.
  • Proactive, 'can do' attitude.
  • Calm and unflappable.
  • Confident in your abilities and thinking, you don't have to be an extrovert but we need you to be able to speak your mind.
  • Ability to form and maintain relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • A resilient personality with the ability to adapt to change.
