The Ben Lowe Story

The Story

Local boy artist Ben Lowe is a bit of a dude. Our Charlie had been buying his beautiful oil paintings for years from his Portobello shop whenever he was flush enough to afford one. He had no idea that Ben was short-listed for the School of Saatchi Art Prize. Or that he’d found a way of turning his paintings into canvas prints for a fraction of the price so that you could barely tell the difference. Cue Charlie’s mum buying him a print for his birthday. An excited phone call from Charlie to Ben. And then a handshake as they agreed that we’d exclusively stock his gorgeous prints.

The Art

Ben says that if he wasn’t an artist he wouldn’t be alive. That’s art speak for passion. And it shines through in his work which is all based on personal experiences. From finding a crumpled old photo of a frozen lake while clearing out his Gramps’ attic which led to Skating, to taking a soppy trip down memory lane to his favourite Cornish beach in Summerleaze, what Ben’s work all has in common is that it looks cool and is a joy to live with. They all come printed on canvas and with a nice, thick, painted wooden frame. We love.
